Eating Breakfast Can Help Stabilize Your Blood Sugar All Day Long

We’ve been told that you should always start your day off with a good breakfast. But is that true or is it just something mom used to say?

Well, European research seems to back mom up.

A study found that eating a protein rich breakfast can help you maintain blood sugar levels all day long.

In addition, researchers found that to keep blood sugar levels stable it’s best to eat your bigger meals early in the day rather than waiting until dinner to eat your biggest meal of the day.

Professor Oren Froy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem said, “A person’s meal timing schedule may be a crucial factor in the improvement of glucose balance and prevention of complications in Type 2 Diabetes and lends further support to the role of the circadian system in metabolic regulation.”

Participants of the study ranged in age from 30 and 70 and consisted of 8 men and 10 women. All of the participants had been a Type 2 diabetic for less than 10 years.

On the 7th day of the study, blood samples were taken from each participant throughout the day. Results showed that the group who ate their bigger meal earlier in the day maintained their blood sugar levels better than the group who ate their main meal late in the day.

Yet again, it looks like mom does know best and when you eat is as important as what you eat!
